Required to work closely with a Sr. Associate to bring issue/problem identification and investigation through to an accepted/successful resolution. Ensure that daily assignments are complete and that all assigned work is reviewed, submitted, and resolved.

The Physician Billing Associate will be responsible for:

  • Receiving and inputting data received from external departments into technical systems with accuracy.

  • Reviewing and verifying all demographic and insurance information utilizing available technologies, payer websites, or by phone contact with third-party payers or guarantors.

  • Collaborating with peers to ensure all required information is being obtained for resolution of charge edits, claim edits, denials, and appeals in a timely manner, while adhering to government/payer regulation and department policy/procedures.

  • Reviewing outstanding charges and collaborating with Sr. Associates to respond timely and accurately for resolution of outstanding balance.

  • Communicating issues and problems identified through daily work to management. May receive and answer inquiries from patients and/or guarantors.

  • Following established regulations and procedures in the collection, recording, storage and handling of information. Ensuring required documentation of issues is complete, accurate, timely and legible. Protecting and preserving confidentiality and integrity of all information according to Boston Children’s Hospital’s HIPAA confidentiality policy.

  • Meeting short and long-term goals and objectives as established for the work unit.

To qualify you must have:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and min of 1 yr experience in a multi-specialty physician billing or medical office setting

  • Attention to detail, good organizational skills, ability to meet priorities within set timeframes, and ability to work as part of a team.

  • Strong written, verbal, analytical and communication skills.

  • Ability to provide effective customer service, which includes the ability to interact professionally and handle sensitive information / issues in a confidential and respectful manner.

  • Analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or challenges are relatively routine.

  • Ability to adhere to processes, policies, and procedures

  • Demonstrates professional integrity.

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple demands and projects, as well as perform in a high volume and fast-paced production environment.
