Corewell Health Polysomnographic Technologist Sr. in Canton, Michigan
Job Summary
A Polysomnographic Technologist Sr. works under the general supervision of the Medical Director, and designee (department director/manager/supervisor) to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services or patient care and education. A Polysomnographic Technologist II can perform the duties defined for a Polysomnographic Technologist and provides assigned by department director/manager/supervisor supervision of other staff.
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Corewell Dearborn Canton and Riverview Sleep Centers, including but not limited to technologist scheduling, troubleshooting, KRONOS, EPIC schedule maintenance. Customer service, evaluation and management of equipment.
Essential Functions
Coordinate, troubleshoot, and coach sleep-monitoring techs to perform quality studies according to Sleep Evaluation Services Department standards.a. MN Shift: Problem Solve patient safety, equipment issues. Patient assignments. Work with Supervisor staffing/scheduling. Technical expert/resource for all staff.b. Day Shift: Technical Resource for all staff, Scores Studies, completes day patient studies.
Identifies final testing parameters/procedures coordinated with ordering physician and/or Medical Directors per SES protocols.
Maintains/upholds all SES procedural protocols/Hospital policies and Sleep Medicine standards care. Score sleep/wake stages, clinical events according to professionally accepted guidelines & SES protocols.
Maintains accurate reports/clinical event data & documentation. Implements appropriate interventions to optimize patient safety/therapeutic modalities such as oxygen therapy, PAP therapies.
Coordinate, mentor, and problem-solve technical and personnel issues. Serve as facilitator, mentor and informal leader and engaged change-agent.
Works closely with all staff as preceptor, mentor leads by example. May be engaged with staff, student, new hire educational development and/or orientation. Actively engaged visibility in practice within hospital system, community, amongst peers and colleagues/superiors.
Maintains skills and all duties that of a polysomnography technologist.
Engages and Contribute to department QA/QI, PI and Joint Commission & Patient Family Center Care projects.
Responsible for mandatory continuous and unit specific annual education as mandated by department and credentialing body as well as AASM Guidelines.
Qualifications
Required Formal training in polysomnography program and/or enrolled in a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) program with the polysomnography option OR enrolled in or have completed the A-STEP online Self Study Modules.
Required Non-registered technologists and technicians must complete A-Step online Self Study Modules within two years of enrollment.
Required All technical staff must participate in at minimum 10 hours per year (averaged over three years) of sleep-related continuing education credits.
3 years of relevant experience Minimum 3 years’ experience as a fully registered, full time polysomnographic technologist. Required
3 years of relevant experience Three years’ experience working in the field of Sleep Medicine. Required

CRT-Respiratory Therapist Registry - NBRC National Board for Respiratory Care Upon Hire required Or
CRT-Registered Sleep Technologist - ABSM American Board of Sleep Medicine Upon Hire required
CRT-At least one Certification from preferred list - UNKNOWN Unknown Upon Hire required
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association preferred Or
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross preferred
