Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Senior Actuarial Analyst I in Detroit, Michigan

TITLE:                              Senior Actuarial Analyst I

Duties:                            Perform moderately complex actuarial analyses and calculations using knowledge and demonstrated application of actuarial methods and practices, determining priorities and procedures. Ensure completeness, accuracy and appropriateness of all insurance data used in the production of outputs; recommend improvements to data as needed. Independently identify actuarial problems and associate actions and solutions; consider internal, external and customer impacts. Independently communicate to stakeholders. Asses and implement efficiency enhancing processes where available. Respond to request from internal departments; prioritize and review work of peers. May provide technical guidance to less experienced professionals and technicians. Remain current on actuarial techniques, seek development and improvement opportunities and understand corporate/ cross-functional objectives and cultural beliefs. Teleworking Permitted.

SCHEDULE:                  40 hours per week, Monday through Friday

LOCATION:                    Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, 600 E. Lafayette Blvd. Detroit, MI 48226

REQUIREMENTS:      Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, or closely related field of study and two (2) years of experience as an Actuarial Analyst, Actuarial Analyst I, Actuarial Analyst II, or closely related occupation. Also requires at least 2 years of experience in the following:

·        Knowledge of actuarial methods and practices used to perform moderately complex actuarial analyses and calculations;

·        Ability to clearly present completed work and recommendations to team members, internal stakeholders, and leadership;

·        Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint;

·        Apply techniques for summarizing large data sets for reporting while also learning new methods and analyses with limited direction; and

·        Ability to learn, use, and maintain analytical programs with limited direction.

Also requires:

·        At least three (3) course credits towards the attainment of the FSA designation and is a member, in good standing, of the Actuarial Development Program.
