Overview

The Director, Animal Resource Center (ARC) & Attending Veterinarian is responsible for directing and managing all aspects of animal care at CMRI to include: animal procurement and transportation, preventive medicine (including quarantine, animal biosecurity and surveillance), clinical care, surgery and perioperative care, anesthesia and analgesia. The Attending Veterinarian provides guidance to investigators and all personnel involved in the care and use of animals to ensure appropriate husbandry, handling, medical treatment, analgesia, anesthesia and euthanasia. The Attending Veterinarian will serve as expert for the Animal Care and Use Program.

Responsibilities

  • Describe Essential Function: Directs CMRI’s veterinary care program- Describe Essential Function: Supervises vivarium operations- Describe Essential Function: Serves as Attending Veterinarian on the IACUC- Describe Essential Function: Ensures all aspects of laboratory animal care is in compliance with PHS Policy, the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, AAALAC International and all local, state and federal requirements.

Qualifications

-Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from an AVMA-accredited University or ECFVG certification and 7 or more years experience directing laboratory animal medicine programs with at least 3 years of experience serving on an IACUC as Attending Veterinarian- Diplomate of American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine Required

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $62.06/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his/her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and onsite hours at a Children’s Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
