UCLA Health Senior Actuarial Analyst in Los Angeles, California

You will provide important actuarial support on a wide variety of topics, including pricing, forecasting, reserving, trend analysis, value-based care, and risk adjustment - mainly focusing on MAPD business. This will involve working closely with Faculty Practice Group departments to analyze the business, identify, and recommend actions which support company objectives and drive financial results. You will apply your in-depth understanding of the health actuarial field as you take on a full-range of responsibilities within this role.

Salary Range: $78,800 - $175,000 Annually

Qualifications

We're seeking a highly-motivated, flexible, detail-oriented individual with:

  • A directly related Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent combination of experience/training

  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (or actively working to attain)

  • Four or more years of experience with Medicare Advantage, particularly pricing and bid development, Medicare Part D, or pharmacy pricing

  • In-depth knowledge of Medicare Advantage regulations, reimbursement methodologies, and CMS guidelines preferred

  • Thorough understanding of decision support systems

  • Knowledge of business statistics, quantitative methods, relational databases, data modeling, and performance/profitability analysis

  • Familiarity with clinical finance, planning, financial data management and business development

  • Ability to produce meaningful findings and actionable intelligence

  • Proven skills in data analysis and financial model-building

  • Experience creating detailed reports with drill-down capabilities using large datasets from multiple sources

  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to facilitate a positive team atmosphere

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, time management, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work effectively with senior staff and managers

  • Computer proficiency, including advanced knowledge of Excel

  • Scripting or programming experience preferred

  • Experience with database, SQL, and XML a plus
