Description DEPARTMENT: Renton corps POSITION TITLE: Social Service Clerk STATUS: Non-Exempt| Regular-Full Time 40 Hours REPORTS TO: Corps Officers SALARY: $21.00 (Hourly) JOB REQUIREMENTS: Communicate well by telephone, in person, and in writing Bi-lingual read/write in a second language/Spanish preferred Must work well in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment Computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Word and Excel Excellent organizational skills. Ability to deal effectively with a wide range of personality types Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong work ethic Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of all personnel-related items Knowledge of filing and record-keeping systems Must be willing to work at least one Saturday a month, around a couple of hours. RESPONSIBILITIES: Greeter: Greet all clients with a smile; you are the first person the client interacts with. Always Maintain professionalism, with priority given to respect, empathy, and a helpful attitude in all client interactions. Office Procedures: Open gates and lobby area at 9:00 am. Keep the office organized and insure all important and vital information is shared with the Supervisor affected by the Social Service area. Make sure that the lobby is clean and tidy before the end of the day ready for next day's services. Close the gates at 4 PM every day. Resources: Maintain and update all information and resources that are pertinent and applicable for client assistance. This includes Flyers, Brochures, applications for assistance or any community resources, and updates to Bulletin Board. Telephone: Answer incoming calls and transfer accordingly. Regularly check general office phone messages to ensure that phone messages are transferred and/or returned on the same day. You will be responsible for tracking all phone calls and any referrals made daily. (For reporting purposes only). Intake and OTO operations: Attend social services, clients, and registering services at the current registering System. Assist in processing assistance requests and referrals, as required, while maintaining a professional and highly organized office and waiting room area. Assist in maintaining accurate case records and filing system. Assist the Social Services Supervisor in completing all office tasks, protocols, and responsibilities. Make pertinent notations in client's database files; new follow up and updates Keep accurate records of all OTO clients, waiting lists, and volunteers. Assist in processing assistance requests and referrals for the OTO Program. Communicate with all OTO Volunteers and organize the matchup between volunteers and clients, reporting scheduling difficulties to the supervisor. Assist the food bank warehouse operations as needed. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead Ability to operate a telephone Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually file and food boxes) Ability to access and produce information from a computer Ability to understand written information Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
