Job Summary and Qualifications

The Coordinator of the Sterile Processing Department will provide for the delivery of efficient and effective sterile process for designative areas. The Coordinator will provide support for the manager to ensure that the processing services is consistent with established national, state, and medical center standards, and is provided in a safe, appropriate and cost-effective manner. The Central Sterile Coordinator will the be responsible of processing and maintaining quality control of surgical instruments, and the monitoring of sterilization/decontamination equipment used in Surgical Services. The position requires a thorough knowledge of surgical instrumentation/equipment decontamination, sterilization principles and practices, instrument tray assembly and inventory control.

What you will do in this role:

· You will provide hospital departments, including but not limited to, the OR, the Emergency Room and Labor and Delivery, with sterile instruments and trays in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

· You will interview, hire, administer disciplinary actions, and conduct performance evaluations per hospital policy.

· You will be supervise, coach, and mentor department staff.

· You will ensure certifications are maintained, as well as orientation and annual competencies.

· You will ensure instruments care/sterility is provided according to standards of professional practice.

What qualifications you will need:

· A High School Diploma or GED is required, Bachelor's degree preferred

· A Central Sterile Certification is required in South Carolina hospitals and is strongly preferred in Georgia and Florida hospitals

· 5 years + Prior sterilization and surgical instrumentation experience is required

Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPT), or Certified Registered Central Service Technician

5 years experience Required Years of Experience/ 1-2 years as lead/supervisor is preferred
