Ellis Medicine Manager Pharmacy in Schenectady, New York

The basic function of the pharmacy operations manager is to supervise, manage and oversee on a daily basis the professional and functional activities of the department. The responsibilities of this position are to assure high quality, accurate, expedient and complete Pharmacy service on a twenty-four hour basis. This role will require the manager to train and develop sufficient qualified personnel to carry out the responsibilities. To effectively measure the performance of the employees, develop good working relationships with the Pharmacy, Medical and nursing staffs , create a favorable image of Ellis Medicine in the eyes of patients, visitors, and the general public .

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (preferred)

  • Experience working as a licensed pharmacist in a hospital pharmacy setting (preferred but not required)

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or managerial role preferred

  • Master’s in business Administration (MBA or MS) is encouraged but not required

  • Must be licensed to practice in New York State and in good standing or eligible to become licensed

  • Clinical Informatics systems experience (Cerner, Carefusion, Omnicell) would be preferred

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

  • Comply with all state and federal laws and regulations, policies and procedures of Ellis Medicine and standards of affiliated accrediting organizations.

  • Assure that company resources are utilized responsibly and that the working environment is clean, safe and in compliance with required workplace standards.

  • Participate in the hiring, on-going development and performance evaluation of all designated pharmacy staff including both licensed and unlicensed staff.

  • Assign duties to pharmacy staff ensuring all areas of the pharmacy department, including satellites, have appropriate staffing. Assist as needed to ensure the accurate and timely completion of duties.

  • Oversee the day-to-day responsibilities, schedules and assignments of the Pharmacy Technical Staff in collaboration with Lead Pharmacist(s).

  • Develop and implement intra- and inter-departmental policies and procedures and recommend changes where appropriate.

  • Understand, utilize and maintain the pharmacy department’s information systems in collaboration with the clinical informatics pharmacist to meet the goals of the department and institution.

  • Maintain all relevant statistics including appropriate billing and charging pertaining to the operations of the department and institution, and as required by accrediting and regulatory bodies.

  • Communicate relevant departmental information to the nursing and medical staff.

  • Contribute as a member of the P&T committee and serve on various other committees as appropriate or as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy.

  • Coordinate clinical programs in conjunction with the Clinical Pharmacy Manager and Director to develop, maintain and enhance staff skills and competencies.

  • Seek opportunities to maximize pharmacy revenue, streamline processes, implement process improvement activities and resolve conflicts.

    Salary Range: $58.87-$94.20/hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
